Japanese watchmaking giant SEIKO has a history of dropping killer timepieces in collaboration with various anime, manga, and game IPs, always to fan acclaim.
Now, they're teaming up with the "ONE PIECE Shinkansen," a Sanyo Shinkansen train decked out in *ONE PIECE* themes. The result? A stunning limited-edition watch inspired by the ocean-themed "Setouchi Blue" train. Priced at 76,780 JPY, only 5,000 units will be available worldwide, with pre-orders currently open on PREMICO's official website.
Spring 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Sanyo Shinkansen's full line opening, and to celebrate, JR West and the *ONE PIECE* TV anime are launching the "ONE PIECE x Sanyo Shinkansen" collaboration project. This epic initiative features three "ONE PIECE Shinkansen" trains, with everything from their exterior designs to interior decor infused with the *ONE PIECE* world and its iconic characters.
The first of these, the "Setouchi Blue," officially debuted on April 12, 2025, themed around a "Setouchi Journey." Sporting an ocean-inspired blue livery, the train features various *ONE PIECE* characters, primarily the Straw Hat Pirates, making the entire Shinkansen ride feel like a genuine high-seas adventure.
Now, that very "Setouchi Blue" train—with its *ONE PIECE* world integration and ocean-inspired design—has been transformed into a wristwatch.
The watch face draws inspiration from the "Setouchi Blue" train's color scheme, featuring a stunning blue gradient. The sub-dials on either side incorporate the train's side wave patterns, while the small seconds sub-dial proudly displays the Straw Hat Pirates' Jolly Roger. The 1 o'clock marker subtly integrates a straw hat motif. Both the hour and minute hands, along with elements designed to evoke the train's headlights, are coated with luminous paint, glowing brightly in the dark.
The chronograph second hand boasts a unique design, combining Luffy and an anchor. Plus, the dazzling gold 10 o'clock marker shines bright, symbolizing the Sanyo Shinkansen's 50th-anniversary milestone.
The watch's case back is engraved with the "ONE PIECE Shinkansen" logo and its unique serial number, marking it as one of the 5,000 limited-edition pieces worldwide.
This timepiece comes nestled in a special collector's box, designed like an adventurer's treasure chest, brimming with *ONE PIECE*'s spirit of adventure. The "ONE PIECE Shinkansen" logo is elegantly hot-stamped in gold on the lid.
Inside the custom box, you'll find the main visual from the "ONE PIECE x Sanyo Shinkansen" project, along with a warranty card featuring an exclusive illustration.
