"Until Dawn 2" Confirmed for January 2027 Release: "Stranger Things" Star Joins Cast, "Dispatch" Team Co-Developing

PlayStation and Firesprite have unveiled the latest details for "Until Dawn 2" during the recent State of Play presentation, confirming the game's launch on January 28, 2027. The title is being co-developed by AdHoc Studio, known for their highly praised 2025 release, "Dispatch."

AdHoc Studio, comprised of numerous former Telltale Games members, garnered critical acclaim for "Dispatch," which also secured three BAFTA Games Awards. Firesprite Creative Director Stu Tilley stated that this collaboration ensures "Until Dawn 2" will continue the series' character-driven narrative style, featuring complex relationships, sharp dialogue, difficult choices, and the franchise's signature gruesome death scenes. Players' every decision will have cascading consequences.

The trailer showcases "Stranger Things" star Dacre Montgomery, who portrays Owen, the arrogant lead personality of the in-game ghost-hunting team, Dead True. Owen faces a critical decision: follow a signal to search for his missing friend Nate, or detour to investigate an unusually lively bar.

Meanwhile, co-host Mina confronts an even more brutal choice: the network demands she perform a ritual sacrifice on camera. Players can opt to sacrifice a chicken or release it and complete the ritual using her own blood.

The latest trailer concludes with a brief glimpse of a monster resembling the Wendigo from the original "Until Dawn," leaving fans speculating whether "Until Dawn 2" will have a more direct connection to the events of its predecessor.
