Sacha Baron Cohen Cast in Quentin Tarantino's Debut Stage Play "The Popinjay Cavalier"; Film Adaptation Possible

Quentin Tarantino, who announced his official foray into theater this past March, is set to debut his first stage play, "The Popinjay Cavalier," in London's West End next year. The lead actor for the production has now been revealed as British star Sacha Baron Cohen, known for his roles in "Borat" and "The Dictator" films.

While this marks the first official collaboration between Tarantino and Baron Cohen, it's not their first connection. Over a decade ago, Tarantino had invited Baron Cohen for a cameo in "Django Unchained," but the actor ultimately withdrew due to scheduling conflicts with the promotional tour for "The Dictator." Fourteen years later, Baron Cohen is not just a cameo but has stepped into a starring role.

"The Popinjay Cavalier" is described as an old-fashioned British farce and a "rambunctious comedy of deception and disguise" set in 1830s Europe, filled with romance, adventure, and elements of fraud. Specific plot details remain under wraps. Tarantino penned and will direct the play himself. Last year, he hinted that if the play is well-received by audiences, he might adapt it into his tenth and final feature film.
