Transgender actor Elliot Page recently revealed in an interview that he hasn't received any acting offers since a critically acclaimed performance, despite the positive reception of his work. Following the spread of Page's interview, many netizens speculated that his post-transition appearance might be a factor in the lack of offers, making it difficult for him to compete with other male actors.
Addressing Page's challenging situation, Lilly Wachowski, co-director of "The Matrix" series and a fellow transgender individual, offered her perspective.

In an interview with "Variety" magazine, Lilly Wachowski stated that Christopher Nolan's decision to cast Elliot Page in a role was commendable and demonstrated true allyship. She noted that Nolan publicly praised Elliot, saying he was a pleasure to work with, which reflected well on his character. However, Wachowski questioned how many others in the industry had followed suit. She asked what those with the power to hire transgender actors were doing, and if they were so indifferent to the system that they chose to look away, concluding that it certainly seemed to be the case.

Lilly Wachowski also mentioned in the interview that she has developed many transgender-themed stories she believes are excellent over the years, but Hollywood has been unwilling to invest in them. As an example, Wachowski cited her desire to direct a "Star Wars"-esque, lesbian-led space opera series titled "Cosmoknights." Despite pitching it to various Hollywood studios, she found no interest. Wachowski further criticized many corporate moguls for actively spreading negative messages that demean transgender people, leading to an extremely poor public perception of the transgender community.
