At just 23 years old, Ado has become one of the biggest talking points in Japanese music. She may still keep her face hidden, but that has not stopped her from landing countless live appearances, performing at the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, and teaming up for a steady stream of high-profile collaborations.
On September 21, Ado officially announced her first collaboration with popular Sanrio character and artist Kuromi. Their new track, "DND feat. KUROMI," will be released digitally on Friday, September 25!
The title "DND" stands for "Do Not Disturb." The confident, uplifting anthem is all about tuning out the noise and other people’s expectations, staying true to yourself, and charging toward your dreams.
Ado revealed that Kuromi sent her a letter inviting her to help bring The #KUROMIFYTHEWORLD Project to life. True to the project’s central message, the song encourages listeners to fearlessly be themselves and become the person they want to be.
A new collaboration visual featuring Ado and Kuromi has also been unveiled, illustrated by ORIHARA (@ewkkyorhr), the artist behind Ado’s signature character design. Ado appears with twin tails inspired by Kuromi’s iconic black hood, blending the pair’s distinctive personalities into one striking look.
Ado teaming up with Sanrio’s Kuromi for a duet was not exactly on anyone’s bingo card, but the track officially drops on September 25. Now we just have to see what kind of impact this unexpected crossover makes.
