Universal Studios Japan regularly rolls out new collaborations, but its annual Universal Cool Japan event remains one of the park's biggest crowd-pullers, delivering fresh surprises and must-see experiences every year.
On September 30, the park revealed the first attraction in the Universal Cool Japan 2027 lineup. Sailor Moon, one of Japan's most iconic shojo manga franchises, will lead the charge with its fourth collaboration with USJ. The 2027 event will get an early start before the new year, with attractions rolling out from December 2, 2026.
Universal Studios Japan is marking its 25th anniversary, while Universal Cool Japan continues to be one of its most popular annual events, giving guests the chance to step inside globally beloved entertainment franchises from Japan.
The first announced attraction will launch on December 2 with a Sailor Moon theme. This marks the franchise's fourth USJ collaboration following events in 2018, 2019, and 2022. The fan-favorite attraction "Sailor Moon: The Miracle 4-D — Moon Palace Chapter Deluxe", which earned rave reviews during its previous run, is also making a comeback. In April 2026, the attraction even made its way to a Universal park in the United States, drawing fans from around the world.

Combining 3D visuals with in-theater environmental effects, the attraction creates the sensation that Sailor Moon is close enough to touch while surrounding guests with the series' world. After winning over huge numbers of visitors during its previous run, the celebrated attraction will return for a limited time.
Alongside dazzling, high-impact transformation sequences, guests will see action-packed battles unfold right before their eyes. The Sailor Guardians' heroic determination in the face of danger and the beautiful gowns they wear while dancing at the ball will all be brought vividly to life, delivering a dream-come-true miracle experience designed to send fans' love for the series into overdrive.
USJ will also celebrate its 25th anniversary by debuting "Sailor Moon × Story Ride," a roller-coaster experience built around the idea of riding directly into the series' world. Original food and merchandise, both major hits during previous events, will return alongside the attractions, with more details to be announced later.
