"What Happens at Night" is adapted from Peter Cameron’s 2020 ghost story novel of the same name. The story follows an unnamed American couple who travel to an unfamiliar European city to adopt a child, checking into a vast and eerie hotel. The property is populated by a mysterious collection of guests, including an aging chanteuse, a libertine businessman and an enigmatic, charismatic faith healer. Beneath the surface, however, both the hotel and its residents appear to be hiding unsettling secrets. As the couple’s efforts to adopt the child encounter one obstacle after another, they grow increasingly uncertain about their marriage, themselves and the lives they have built.
