Shirow Masamune’s manga Ghost in the Shell returned to television this July with THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, a one-cour anime praised for its faithful take on the original story and Science SARU’s impressive production.
On October 23, officials announced that an entirely new anime based on Masamune’s Ghost in the Shell manga had entered production. Following the TV series THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, Science SARU will once again handle animation production.

The project was unveiled as a surprise during a press preview held on October 23. Officials also released a promotional visual announcing that production on the new anime is underway.
No title, format, release date, or broadcast window has been revealed yet. Further updates will be shared through Bandai Namco Filmworks’ official social media channels and other outlets.

Interestingly, the announcement specifically describes this as a new anime project, meaning it could be yet another standalone adaptation within the wider Ghost in the Shell franchise. The original manga certainly offers plenty of material to work with.
For now, however, officials are keeping everything else under wraps. Fans will have to wait for more details.
