Japanese company VOLKS, known for its numerous mecha releases from "The Five Star Stories", is set to launch a 1/100 scale model kit of the series' Mortar Headd, the "Ogre Arscul" (オージェ・アルスキュル), on December 25, 2021.
"The Five Star Stories" (ファイブスター物語) is a sci-fi manga created by the renowned Japanese mecha designer Mamoru Nagano. It began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten's "Newtype" magazine in 1986 and was adapted into an anime in 1989. Known for its expansive world-building that delves into numerous characters, events, and concepts, the series has been continuously serialized for over 30 years. The distinctive designs of the fantastical robots, known as "Mortar Headds" (MH), crafted by Nagano within the story, continue to make it a beloved subject of study and discussion among robot enthusiasts.

The Ogre Arscul (オージェ・アルスキュル) is the second Mortar Headd in the Knight of Gold (K.O.G.) series, considered a sister unit to the Knight of Gold Water Dragon. It was originally built for the young Sword Saint Douglas Kaien. However, after he chose to inherit the Water Dragon instead, the unit was ultimately stored away and never saw combat.
This "Ogre Arscul" model kit features a predominantly white body. Its distinctive characteristics include the silver movable shields and skirt armor that drape from both shoulders down to the waist. The movable shield system is capable of deflecting attacks other than physical weapons, and can be freely attached and detached during assembly. For accessories, the kit includes two types of weapons—a physical sword and a beam saber—along with interchangeable hand parts for holding weapons, and two different face parts.
