BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan, known for its beginner-friendly model kit line "ENTRY GRADE," has officially announced the third Gundam release in the series: the "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 ν Gundam." Following the RX-78-2 Gundam and GAT-X105 Strike Gundam, this new kit is slated for an April 2022 release.
Bandai is now bringing the highly popular "RX-93 ν Gundam" to the ENTRY GRADE line. This iconic mobile suit, piloted by Amuro Ray in the film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," recently made headlines with its life-sized statue. In the movie, the ν Gundam features the revolutionary "Psycho-Frame" technology and is equipped with "Fin Funnels" for all-range attacks, significantly enhancing its structural strength, mobility, and Amuro's Newtype abilities.
The "ENTRY GRADE 1/144 ν Gundam" is an entry-level model kit comprising just over 100 parts. Its specially designed gate marks allow builders to easily snap off parts by hand without the need for nippers, making it incredibly user-friendly for children and beginners alike.
The kit utilizes multiple molded colors including black, white, red, yellow, gray, and green. With precise part separation, even the twin eyes are individually molded. This allows for a near-perfect color reproduction of the mobile suit straight out of the box, requiring no paint. Amuro's personal emblem, featured on the shoulder armor and shield, can be recreated using the included stickers.
The overall design maintains the refined aesthetic of the HGUC version, with minimal panel line details to emphasize the ν Gundam's sleek and powerful silhouette. However, the articulation technology has evolved beyond the older HGUC kits. This allows for dynamic posing, including impressive combat stances from the series, and can be enjoyed with its included Beam Rifle, Shield, and Beam Saber hilt.
However, the ν Gundam's most iconic weapon, the "Fin Funnels," are not included with this kit. While there's no official announcement for an ENTRY GRADE version of the Fin Funnels yet, Bandai has stated that collectors can use parts from the separately sold "HGUC 1/144 ν Gundam (2,750 JPY)." This means you can transfer its Fin Funnels, Beam Saber effect parts, and Hyper Bazooka to the ENTRY GRADE version.
