Kaiyodo, a Japanese toy company, is renowned for its 'Capsule Q Museum' (カプセルQ ミュージアム) gashapon series, which features small-sized yet exquisitely detailed models. In September 2022, the series is scheduled to release a new installment in its highly popular warship collection: the sixth volume of the 'World Ship Deformed Series' (ワールドシップデフォルメ)! This will be Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Vol. 2: 'Deploy! Latest Advanced Ships Edition'.
While Taiwan refers to its armed forces as the Army, Navy, and Air Force, Japan designates them as the 'Self-Defense Forces,' comprising the Ground, Maritime, and Air Self-Defense Forces. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), abbreviated as JMSDF, is Japan's de facto naval armed organization, established on July 1, 1954. All military personnel are referred to as 'Maritime Self-Defense Officials.' The JMSDF's primary combat strength at sea consists of four 'Eight-Eight Fleets' (each composed of eight warships and eight anti-submarine aircraft). Currently, each Eight-Eight Fleet is led by four helicopter destroyers serving as flagships.
This sixth installment of Kaiyodo's 'Capsule Q Museum' World Ship Deformed Series marks the second time the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force has been featured. This collection includes five types, such as the 'Mogami-class Destroyer Escort' (もがみ型護衛艦), the 'Kongo-class Destroyer Escort' (こんごう型護衛艦), as well as a mini-model of the Soryu-class submarine with an accompanying Black Hawk helicopter. As before, each model comes with a display stand bearing the ship's name.
The five detailed models are as follows:
・Mogami-class Destroyer Escort FFM-1 Mogami / Mogami-class Destroyer Escort Mogami
・Mogami-class Destroyer Escort FFM-2 Kumano / Mogami-class Destroyer Escort Kumano
・Mogami-class Destroyer Escort FFM-3 Noshiro / Mogami-class Destroyer Escort Noshiro
・Kongo-class Destroyer Escort DDG-173 Kongo / Kongo-class Destroyer Escort Kongo
・Soryu-class Submarine SS-501 Soryu (SH-60K included) / Soryu-class Submarine Soryu (with accompanying Black Hawk helicopter)
