Japanese toy brand MEDICOM TOY Company's popular action figure series MAFEX, following products like "Robocop" and "Robocop 2", is releasing a new item themed after "Robocop" to commemorate its 35th anniversary: "ROBOCOP MURPHY HEAD DAMAGE Ver.", with a suggested retail price of 10,780 JPY, scheduled for release in June 2023!!
The classic 1987 film "Robocop", one of the representative sci-fi action films of the 80s, is set in a near-future Detroit, USA, where the government is dysfunctional, anarcho-capitalism is mainstream, and urban operations are controlled by corporate conglomerates. OCP Corporation proposes the Robocop project and transforms the body of Murphy, who died in the line of duty, into a police cyborg... Its shocking violence and prophetic story setting remain intriguing even 35 years later.
The "MAFEX ROBOCOP MURPHY HEAD DAMAGE Ver." action figure stands approximately 16 cm tall. It is based on the terrifying battle-damaged appearance of Robocop in the film, with his head mask removed, revealing only the remaining human skin. It faithfully recreates the expression and likeness of Officer Murphy (portrayed by actor Peter Weller), exposing the complex mechanical structures behind. The silver armor he wears not only features a heavy metallic texture and delicate blue-purple gradient paintwork but also includes battle-damage marks such as bullet holes and oil splatters from intense combat. Cracks on the chest armor allow a glimpse into the internal machinery, showcasing incredible sculpting detail! Additionally, it comes with his signature "AUTO-9" semi-automatic pistol, a part for storing the pistol in his right leg, interchangeable hand spikes, and the classic baby food jar from the film!
