TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from its popular die-cast toy series 'METAL BUILD': the 'Strike Rouge Grand Slam Equipped Type' from 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED', which will be available for pre-order on August 31st at Tamashii Web Shop.
The MBF-02 Strike Rouge is a mobile suit replicated by Orb's state-owned military-industrial enterprise 'Morgenroete' using spare parts and data acquired during the recovery and repair of the Strike Gundam. Some parts were replaced with higher-performance specifications, and a new high-capacity battery, the 'Power Extender', was adopted. This improved some aspects of its performance and energy conversion efficiency, which also enhanced the strength of its PS armor, causing it to display a crimson color when powered on.
The 'METAL BUILD Strike Rouge Grand Slam Equipped Type' utilizes the main body from the 'Strike Rouge + Ootori Striker Pack' released in 2021. Based on the Strike Gundam, it features the characteristic crimson paint scheme and body markings, boasting firm and weighty die-cast joints, high-density detailing, and a sharp, formidable design that evokes the cold, hard, and sharp feel of a weapon. The Aile Striker Pack, previously released, is also mounted on its back, with its paint scheme modified to a bright red tone corresponding to the Strike Rouge.
The armament also includes the same Beam Rifle, Shield, Beam Sabers, and Armor Schneiders as the Strike Gundam. However, the highlight of this release, the XM404 'Grand Slam', is produced with completely new parts. Compared to previous Gunpla versions, the blade shape is wider, the hilt features many newly designed details while also reproducing the folding mechanism. The entire weapon is finished with a heavy, metallic-textured paint application, and features various markings to enhance its detailed richness.
