Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) recently announced the latest product in its "Mega Man X" model kit series, the "First Armor X 1/12 Scale Model Kit," scheduled for release in January 2023.
The "First Armor" released this time is the first set of enhanced armor obtained by protagonist X in the series' inaugural title, "Mega Man X." By finding Dr. Light's hidden capsules in each stage, X can individually acquire enhanced armor for his head, body, arms, and legs. Each part possesses special abilities, such as the head allowing for a headbutt to destroy specific obstacles, the high-defense body armor halving damage taken, the arm unit enhancing charged attacks of various weapons to fire the unique "Spiral Crush Shot," and the leg unit enabling dashing. Fulfilling specific conditions can even grant the super powerful hidden part, "Hadoken."
The "First Armor X 1/12 Scale Model Kit" utilizes CAD design and modeling to faithfully recreate its in-game appearance, featuring precise articulation. The various colors of the armor are reproduced with multi-color molded parts. It comes with three pre-painted interchangeable face parts: a standard front-facing face, a downward-looking roaring face, and a front-facing smiling face. The joint specifications for each part are also compatible with the separately sold "X (Standard Version)," allowing for interchangeable parts to recreate both armored and unarmored forms.
For accessories, in addition to three pairs of interchangeable hand parts (fists, open hands, and splayed hands), both left and right hands can recreate the buster firing state by swapping parts. By using various clear blue molded effect parts for display, you can recreate cool scenes of dashing, charging, shooting, and even performing the hidden special move "Hadoken"! The box art for this product also features a brand-new illustration drawn by Keisuke Mizuno, character designer for the "Mega Man X" series.
