Japanese toy company MEGAHOUSE, which produces the "Realistic Model Series" of dioramas specifically designed to be displayed with 1/144 scale models from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, recently announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam 00": the "Ptolemaios Container (RENEWAL EDITION)," scheduled for release in March 2023.
The "Ptolemaios Container (RENEWAL EDITION)" released this time maintains essentially the same overall specifications as the regular version launched in 2017. It features a large 1/144 scale with an overall length of approximately 46 cm, making it compatible with separately sold HG, RG, and other 1/144 scale "Gundam 00" series Gunpla. This allows for the storage of the four Celestial Being mobile suits—Gundam Exia, Gundam Dynames, Gundam Kyrios, and Gundam Virtue—within the container. The hydraulic pipes, robotic arms, Gundam stands, and launchers within the container are all faithfully reproduced. By exchanging parts, the container can display the kit's original fully deployed side, a mobile suit launch mode with the front extended to 70 cm, or specifications such as a land-use container with tracks on the bottom.
The biggest difference from the regular version lies in the painting process, where all parts have been treated with a finish reminiscent of the MAX technique and weathering. Compared to the monotonous single-color parts of the regular version, irregular gray shadows have been airbrushed onto the edges of each armor surface, further enhancing the three-dimensional feel and substantiality of the sculpt. The product also includes a set of water-slide decals printed with mobile suit markings, which, when applied, further enrich the level of detail.
