GOOD SMILE COMPANY's affordable pre-painted figure series, "POP UP PARADE," is releasing figures based on the classic anime "Hikaru no Go," simultaneously featuring "Hikaru Shindo" and "POP UP PARADE Fujiwara no Sai" PVC figures! Each is priced at 4,800 JPY (tax included) and is scheduled for release in February 2023.
The prodigious Go player, Fujiwara no Sai, was a Go instructor to the Emperor and nobility during the Heian period. Due to a rival's treachery, he was exiled and, in his grief and indignation, drowned himself. Driven by an intense passion for Go, his soul resided within a Go board, wandering the human world for nearly a thousand years, solely in pursuit of the "Divine Move" (Kami no Itte)! During the Edo period, he possessed the young boy Torajiro, guiding him to become the Go Saint, Honinbo Shusaku. When protagonist Hikaru Shindo accidentally discovered the Go board stained with Torajiro's blood, Sai's soul reawakened, guiding Hikaru into the world of Go and finally fulfilling his millennium-long wish.
The "POP UP PARADE Fujiwara no Sai" figure stands approximately 20 cm tall, faithfully recreating Sai's beautiful long purple hair, tall eboshi hat, and other distinctive features. His slender eyes and pale purple lips exude an elegant aura! With a seemingly joyful, light-footed pose, his white kariginu robe billows around him, holding a fan used for teaching Go in one hand, with the other tucked into his sleeve, showcasing Sai's charming everyday personality.
