WETA Workshop, the world-renowned film and television special effects company, has released its latest additions to the "MINI EPICS" vinyl figure series, featuring "Thorin Oakenshield" and "Azog" from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This article will focus on the product information for the Dwarf King, "Thorin Oakenshield"!
Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thráin II and leader of Durin's Folk, is portrayed in The Hobbit series as serious, majestic, and arrogant, possessing formidable combat skills. In the film adaptation, the epithet "Oakenshield" originates from his duel with the Orc "Azog." During the intense battle, Azog's immense strength shattered Thorin's shield and longsword. In a critical moment, Thorin grabbed an oak branch nearby to use as a shield, not only defending against Azog's attacks but also seizing the opportunity to sever his left arm! He then led the Dwarf warriors in a powerful counterattack.
The "MINI EPICS Thorin Oakenshield" stands approximately 10.8 cm tall. It faithfully recreates his appearance from *An Unexpected Journey*, clad in armor and dark blue attire, reinterpreted in the series' distinctive Q-version proportions. The figure captures Thorin in a dynamic pose, holding Orcrist in one hand and resting his axe on his shoulder. The intricate texture sculpting and weathering on his attire, armor, and hair are remarkably detailed. Coupled with his gaze fixed on the distance, the figure perfectly embodies the majestic aura of the King Under the Mountain!
