The "MODEROID" model kit series, launched by the Japanese brand MECHA SMILE, will release its latest product, "MODEROID Tetsujin 28," from the classic robot anime "Tetsujin 28." The suggested retail price is 3,900 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in May 2023.
The first giant robot anime in Japanese animation history, "Tetsujin 28" (鉄人28号), is a manga series by Mitsuteru Yokoyama that began serialization in 1956. This progenitor of robot anime influenced the giant robot settings of globally popular series such as "Mazinger Z" and "Gundam." The story depicts the final stages of World War II, where the Japanese army was in retreat. Dr. Kaneda, under military orders, created a secret weapon that could turn the tide for the Japanese forces—thus, "Tetsujin 28" was born!
The "MODEROID Tetsujin 28" model kit stands approximately 15.5 cm tall. It transforms the original design into a model kit, faithfully recreating Tetsujin 28's unique head and plump body, with even the rivets on its chest charmingly reproduced. Its entire body features flexible articulation at various joints, and it includes interchangeable open-hand parts, allowing for iconic poses and flight actions. By assembling the pre-colored parts and some pre-painted components, you can recreate its appearance closely resembling that from the series!
