Japanese toy manufacturer MEDICOM TOY's popular action figure series "MAFEX" recently announced its latest product from "Space Jam: A New Legacy", "LeBron James"! It is scheduled for release in October 2023.
The 1996 film "Space Jam" sequel, "Space Jam: A New Legacy", stars current NBA player "LeBron James", taking over from legendary high-flyer "Michael Jordan". In the film, James, playing himself, and his son "Dom" are trapped in Warner Bros.' server-verse by the artificial intelligence Al-G Rhythm. They must take to the court and lead distinctive Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny to defeat the AI-designed champion team to safely return home with his son.
This figure marks MAFEX's re-release of the action figure for "James", known as the "cyborg", following the Los Angeles Lakers version. The biggest highlight, in my personal opinion, is the fabric-stitched "TUNE SQUAD" jersey! The brightly colored NIKE sneakers are also excellent. The head sculpt not only captures James' facial contours but also includes three interchangeable expressions: normal, smiling, and shouting. His tattoos are also meticulously recreated. Paired with a silver basketball, a silver basketball with blue effect parts, and a stand, you can recreate various dramatically dynamic game scenes from the film! Now all it needs is a basketball hoop for him to dunk on.
