GUNDAM BASE Latest Limited Gunpla 'HG 1/144 Char's Zaku II (21stCENTURY REAL TYPE Ver.)' to be Released on November 19!

Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced that the latest limited product from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, "HG 1/144 Char's Zaku II (21stCENTURY REAL TYPE Ver.)", is scheduled to go on sale in stores starting November 19, 2022.

This product is based on the standard version released in 2020, utilizing the latest HG series technology to faithfully recreate 'The Red Comet' Char Aznable's most iconic mobile suit. The entire model features precise part separation and color molding. The head's mono-eye camera is a separate part, and its direction can be rotated via a protrusion hidden underneath.

Both the upper arms and forearms are designed with rotating joints, expanding the range of motion for the hands. For the distinctive skirt armor, in addition to the usual hard parts that rotate with ball joints, this release also includes soft plastic skirt armor parts, similar to action figures, allowing players who prioritize articulation to further expand the range of motion for the legs. The armament includes a Heat Hawk, Zaku Machine Gun, and Zaku Bazooka; all three weapons are designed to be attachable to the Zaku's waist.

Unlike the standard version, the 21stCENTURY REAL TYPE Ver. limited edition is fully supervised by modeler Meijin Kawaguchi. It recreates the realistic military style popular among Gunpla builders in the 1980s through new molding colors and original waterslide decals, giving the mobile suit a practical color scheme and marking lines. Even the box art is designed to evoke the image drawn by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara in early setting materials, incorporating the watercolor style characteristic of older Gunpla kits.
