Today, in addition to announcing the "Century King SUN DRIVER" from Kamen Rider BLACK SUN, Bandai Spirits' adult-oriented Kamen Rider belt series, 'COMPLETE SELECTION MODIFICATION', also revealed the commercialization of the "Century King MOON DRIVER" transformation belt used by the other protagonist, Kamen Rider SHADOWMOON (Shadow Moon).
Exclusively streamed on Amazon Prime Video on October 28, 2022, 'Kamen Rider BLACK SUN' is part of the 50th-anniversary project for Japan's popular tokusatsu series 'Kamen Rider'. With the theme of returning to its origins, it re-imagines the popular 1987 series 'Kamen Rider BLACK', presenting the cruel fate and sorrowful story of brothers Kotaro Minami and Nobuhiko Akizuki through director Kazuya Shiraishi's fresh perspective. It stars popular and highly acclaimed actors Hidetoshi Nishijima and Tomoya Nakamura as the two new-generation characters.
The character designs for the Kamen Riders and monsters in the series were discussed by Kazuya Shiraishi, Shinji Higuchi, Kiyotaka Taguchi, and others, and finally completed by PLEX designers such as Daisuke Kobayashi. Unlike the original BLACK's functional beauty and bio-mechanical aesthetic, Kamen Rider BLACK SUN and Shadow Moon, while retaining their basic prototypes, incorporate a large number of more realistic biological features such as monster-like muscle lines, thorns, and carapaces.
A prototype of the "CSM Transformation Belt Century King MOON DRIVER" was exhibited today at 【NARIKIRI WORLD】. Its design faithfully reproduces the highly mechanical, smooth shell seen in the series, complete with weathering effects and polarized paint that reflects a mysterious purple sheen as the viewing angle changes.
Similar to the Century King SUN DRIVER, the belt also features rich sound and light effects, as well as a completely automatic transformation mechanism. In addition to playing in-series sound effects and dialogue, it can also detect the wearer's movements via sensors. By mimicking Nobuhiko Akizuki's transformation pose from the show, the belt will begin playing transformation sounds, emit green light, and automatically transform, recreating the cool transformation scene!
