Released by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, the original plastic model series 『30MINUTES MISSIONS』, which boasts quick assembly, easy customization, and fully embodies the charm of mass-produced machines, is set to release its latest product, the 「1/144 EXM-A9k Spinatio (Knight Type)」, on November 12, 2022. Product box art and official prototype images have now been revealed.
The Spinatio (Knight Type) is a third-faction mobile suit designed by illustrator Fumikane Shimada, who also worked on the 30MS series' mecha girl designs. In contrast to previous designs that were heavily inspired by Japan's Sengoku period, this new version presents a medieval Western knight aesthetic, complete with silver-white armor and wielding a longsword and kite shield. As a mass-produced unit, it strikes a perfect balance, conveying a cool image that is neither too strong nor too weak, but just right. The design intentionally leaves a large flat surface on the shield, allowing players to paint or apply decals to it.
The model kit continues the series' characteristics, boasting advantages such as low assembly difficulty and easy customization and expansion. Various parts of the armor feature standardized 3mm ports, allowing for free customization with parts from the same series. The helmet's visor can be raised or completely removed. The longsword can be secured to the inside of the shield and hung on the back. As seen in the prototype images, all exterior armor parts are molded in metallic silver, providing an excellent metallic texture without the need for painting. However, some larger parts and shield components still show noticeable swirl marks or shrinkage.
