The British toy company First 4 Figures, known for releasing various video game-themed character statues, after launching several products from the renowned high-difficulty action game "Dark Souls", is set to release a new SD version product in the fourth quarter of 2023. The character is none other than "OSCAR, KNIGHT OF ASTORA SD"!
High-difficulty action games developed by From Software, such as "Demon's Souls" and "Bloodborne", are often collectively referred to as the "Souls series" (while "Sekiro" is not forcibly grouped due to its different mechanics). The "Dark Souls" trilogy is considered by many players to be an outstanding work. Despite its extremely high difficulty, requiring a significant time investment, the mysterious story content within the game, along with its various medieval and Cthulhu elements, keeps many players endlessly entertained, willing to see "YOU DIED" countless times to desperately challenge and uncover its depths.
In the official release of "Dark Souls", the name of this Knight of Astora was not actually present. After the protagonist, also an Undead, defeats the Asylum Demon, they encounter him, already on the verge of death. He entrusts us with the mission to journey to Lordran, the land of ancient kings, and ring the Bells of Awakening, then dies after giving us an Estus Flask. If one returns to the Undead Asylum later, they will engage in combat with him, now driven mad (defeating him yields the Crest Shield). His name "OSCAR" was later unearthed in discarded design documents, along with his scrapped related storyline.
This SD version statue of Oscar, Knight of Astora, released by First 4 Figures, reimagines him from his dying state in the game to a pose where he is interacting with a bonfire. His high-grade equipment is meticulously recreated in detail. The realistic bonfire, paired with a stone slab base, and the sword plunged into the ground, evoke memories from the game. This is a collectible worth considering for fans of the Souls series. This product comes in two versions, Regular and Exclusive, both identical in appearance, with the difference being the bonfire's illumination. The price difference is 10 US dollars.
