Japan's official "Mobile Suit Gundam" Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, recently announced that the latest event-exclusive product from "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury," the "HG 1/144 Beguir-Beu [Clear Color]," is scheduled to go on sale in stores starting December 03, 2022.
The CEK-040 Beguir-Beu is a mobile suit developed by Grassley Defense Systems and operated by the "Dominicus Corps," a special unit belonging to the MS Development Council. In the prequel "PROLOGUE," set 21 years before the main story, Kenanji Avery piloted it to participate in the mission to annihilate Vanadis, the "GUND" research institution. The Beguir-Beu is a mobile suit specifically designed to counter "GUND-ARM" type mobile suits. It is equipped with two spherical GUND System Jamming Devices on its back, capable of disrupting the connection between the pilot and the mobile suit. In the story, it caused the mass-production prototype Gundam Lfrith to cease functioning and completely rendered the Gundam Lfrith's GUND-Bits useless.
The "HG 1/144 Beguir-Beu [Clear Color]" is based on the previously released regular version kit. Its parts feature precise color separation and segmentation design, with areas like the chest, shoulders, and thighs represented by stickers combined with clear parts, allowing for a significant recreation of its in-show appearance even with a straight build. By swapping parts, the solid sword armaments and the foot claw deployment mechanism can be reproduced. In addition to the deployable flight unit on the backpack, it also includes a metallic wire to recreate the spherical GUND Jamming Devices in their deployed state.
This limited edition further replaces all purple and white exterior armor parts with clear molded colors, presenting a unique glossy finish. This also makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting and glow-in-the-dark paints, offering a style distinct from regular Gunpla.
