Singaporean statue manufacturer XM Studios' "Samurai Series," which focuses on DC comic characters and blends elements of Japan's Sengoku period and samurai, recently unveiled its latest product. This time, it's the classic villain "The Riddler" making an appearance as a 1/4 scale full statue!
In the setting of this Samurai Series, "The Riddler" disguises himself as a seemingly harmless peddler who appears on paths frequented by travelers. On the surface, he seems to offer goods from an ornate wooden box to sell to travelers. However, he actually recruits unsuspecting travelers with tempting rewards to work for his criminal organization. If one solves The Riddler's puzzles, they can escape; otherwise, if they fail to solve them, there are only two choices: obey The Riddler's commands or face death...
This piece stands approximately 48 cm tall, reinterpreting The Riddler's classic green and purple color scheme combined with Sengoku period attire, creating an enigmatic merchant exuding an ominous aura. The "question mark" emblem, appearing in various forms such as embossed badges and haori patterns, is a truly striking presence. The spiked iron fan, the khakkhara (a staff typically held by monks), and the wooden box adorned with abundant gold decorations are all exquisitely detailed. One can even spot a Go board on top of the box, truly capturing the mysterious character's vibe of challenging and setting traps for others everywhere he goes.
In addition to his signature bowler hat, this Riddler also includes two interchangeable head sculpts: one wearing a jingasa (a type of samurai hat) and another with a full-face mask. The interchangeable left-hand parts include one holding a scroll titled "リドラーの謎 (Riddler's Riddle)" and another holding a fan. For the right hand, there are two options: holding the khakkhara and holding a white Go stone. Toy collectors who love this series should definitely consider getting this one; this Riddler is truly cool.
