Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) recently officially announced the first product in its new series "ARTIST SUPPORT ITEM", designed for artists or aspiring artists: the "Hand Model (Right Hand) WHITE/GRAY", scheduled for release in August 2023.
"ARTIST SUPPORT ITEM" is a series of finished models created specifically for artists or aspiring artists. For the first product, the "Hand Model (Right Hand)", animator Takahiro Kagami, known for drawing powerful card-drawing hand poses in anime such as "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters", was invited for thorough supervision. Kotobukiya's representative sculptor, Hajime Shirahige, was responsible for its production, working together to create a beautiful hand ("美手") with articulation akin to a human body.
The "ARTIST SUPPORT ITEM Hand Model (Right Hand)" is produced in 1/1 scale, with a total length of approximately 21 cm from the tip of the middle finger to the wrist, and is available in two colors: white and gray. Through precise part segmentation and articulated joint design, the hand model not only allows flexible movement of each finger joint, but also maximizes the imitation of human movements in the palm, back of the hand, and wrist joint. Details such as fingernails, skin wrinkles, and palm lines are also meticulously crafted, making it an excellent reference tool for artists who wish to create natural and beautiful hand poses!
