Taiko Pharmaceutical's century-old popular gastrointestinal medicine, "Seirogan", is a mixture of powdered gambir, phellodendron bark powder, licorice powder, citrus unshiu peel powder, and wood creosote liquid, as recorded in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia. It has a strong odor and is highly effective for various gastrointestinal discomforts. Originally named "Chuyū Seirogan" (Loyal and Brave Seirogan), it was used by the Imperial Japanese Army as a gastrointestinal medicine during the Russo-Japanese War and was named Seirogan to boost soldiers' morale.
