BANDAI CANDY, the popular Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product in its "Mobile Suit Gundam G-FRAME FA" series: the "Mobile Suit Gundam G-FRAME FA REAL TYPE SELECTION," scheduled for release in May 2023.
The theme of this product, "Real Type Color," originates from the color scheme used by Kunio Okawara, the mechanical designer of the original Gundam, on the poster for the 1981 "Mobile Suit Gundam" movie. Unlike the toy-like vibrant colors seen in the anime, it adopts realistic military-inspired paint colors such as dark green, sand yellow, and sea blue, combined with practical fuselage markings. This style sparked a craze in the early 1980s and promoted the subsequent vigorous development of the "MSV" series.
The "Mobile Suit Gundam G-FRAME FA REAL TYPE SELECTION" features four iconic mobile suits from the One Year War: Gundam, Zaku II, GM, and Gelgoog. Their molding colors, paintwork, and fuselage markings have been changed to Real Type colors based on the popular settings of that era. Continuing the series' characteristic, collecting both the movable frame set and the armor set with weapons allows you to assemble a complete mobile suit. Each unit includes its signature weapon accessories, and both the Zaku II and Gelgoog can be equipped with commander-type heads featuring antennas!
