Released by the Japanese toy company FREEing (株式会社 FREEing), the "B-Style" series, which creates exquisite female character figures in a large 1/4 scale, will launch a new product from "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time": the "B-style Ayanami Rei (Tentative Name)" 1/4 scale figure. The suggested retail price is 33,000 JPY, with an anticipated release in May 2023.
Appearing in "Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo," Ayanami Rei (Tentative Name) wears a black plugsuit and possesses the exact same appearance as Ayanami Rei, serving as the pilot of EVA Mark.09. When Shinji first encountered her, he joyfully mistook her for the Ayanami Rei he knew from "Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance," only to discover that she had no memories shared with Shinji and would only respond "I don't know" to any questions, as if she were merely a self-less clone. Shinji's remark, "You're not Rei," led her to question her own existence, and in "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time," she strives to learn human ways of life and search for her true self.
The "B-style Ayanami Rei (Tentative Name)" 1/4 scale figure stands approximately 41 cm tall. The overall design is based on her black plugsuit, with intricate details exquisitely rendered in a simple standing pose. Her waistline and hip curves are beautifully sculpted, creating a slender and elegant physique that is utterly captivating. The plugsuit features various textured paint applications, showcasing a sense of depth and allowing the charm of Ayanami Rei (Tentative Name) to be appreciated from every angle! Her right arm is interchangeable, offering two poses: holding the S-DAT or an empty hand.
