American toy brand Super7 is set to release an alternate color version, "Galaxy Black", of its 7-inch action figure based on the classic robot anime series "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" in Fall 2023!
For older toy enthusiasts, the name "聖戰士" (Sheng Zhan Shi) from their childhood is certainly familiar. It actually encompasses two robot anime series produced by Toei Japan: one is 1981's Beast King GoLion (百獣王ゴライオン), and the other is 1982's Armored Fleet Dairugger XV (機甲艦隊ダイラガーXV). Originally, these two anime were unrelated. Later, their rights were acquired by the American company WEP, which merged the two works and gave them a new name: Voltron: Defender of the Universe. When Taiwan's TTV introduced and broadcasted it at the time, they translated "Voltron" as "聖戰士," which is why most people remember it by that name.
