BANDAI SPIRITS Company's collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has today announced the latest product from its robot-themed action figure series, "ROBOT Damashii," featuring the "Anchor Gundam" from "Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam DUST," slated for release in February 2024.
The mobile suit Anchor, piloted by the protagonist Ash King in "Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam DUST," was commissioned by Ash's grandfather and built by the renowned MS craftsman Frank O'Connell. Based on the F89 frame, it incorporates designs and parts from multiple mobile suits. While it may appear to be a patchwork Gundam at first glance, its performance and balance are surprisingly excellent. Furthermore, in Universal Century 0168, when thermal and impact weapons were prevalent, it was one of the few mobile suits equipped with beam weapons such as beam cannons (prototype V.S.B.R.).
The "ROBOT Damashii Anchor Gundam" utilizes numerous new parts to recreate its characteristic structure, inheriting traits from the Formula series, and its striking new orange-red armor. The joints throughout the body incorporate the flexible articulation design cultivated over many years in the ROBOT Damashii series, allowing for dynamic and cool battle poses. The head can also reproduce the heat dissipation deployment mechanism of its face mask by swapping parts, and the head's unique anchor-type heat knife can be replaced with two forms: "V-shape" and "high-speed rotation."
Various weapon mechanisms are also recreated throughout the body, such as the "Spinning Shield" equipped on the left arm, which can have its upper and lower armor wrap around the wrist to be used as a gauntlet; the right chest reproduces the transformation of the thermal armor-piercing projectile cannon; and the legs can be fitted with sole spikes and calf shell ejection effects. The main weapon, the "Halberd," features a soft plastic ammunition belt and includes a beam saber effect that, according to its setting, can only be activated for 12 seconds. Additionally, it comes with the impressively sized giant anchor-type beam saber, "Anchor Maru," which recreates the extension and retraction of its hilt and the deployment of its beam blade through interchangeable parts, boasting two powerful beam effects: anchor-type and sword-type!
