Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS' popular die-cast toy METAL BUILD's new spin-off series, "METAL BUILD DRAGON SCALE", today officially announced the latest product from "Mashin Hero Wataru", "Ryuo-maru", scheduled for release in July 2024.
In the original story, Ryuo-maru is a new form born when the once-deceased Ryujin-maru was revived by the Sacred Revival Water and merged with the soul of Kuujin-maru. Due to the soul of Kuujin-maru residing within, it gained the ability to fly. It can transform from its humanoid "Mashin Form" into the bird-like "Houou Form". Its attack styles are fundamentally similar to Ryujin-maru's, but their power has been elevated by several levels. Its ultimate attack also changed from "Toryuken" to the more powerful "Houryuken".
As for "METAL BUILD DRAGON SCALE Ryuo-maru", it incorporates series features such as "articulated exterior armor" and "internal structures housing souls," bringing a more textured and layered exterior design. Utilizing rich materials like die-cast, clear, and plated parts, along with metallic and pearl paint finishes, it emphasizes a cool mechanical aesthetic distinct from the original. Furthermore, the overall armor features precise part separation and interlocking designs, allowing it to change its silhouette through articulation and achieve dynamic poses with its movable structures.
The weapons, "Houryuken" and "Sheath Shield," boast larger and more substantial designs than in the original, emphasizing their presence. The Sheath Shield also features an original transformation mechanism to expand its defensive area. Ryuo-maru's most distinctive transformation mechanism allows it to fully transform into "Houou Form" without replacing any parts. Not only that, but it also features an original two-stage transformation mechanism, allowing the Houou Form to further transform into "Super Houou Form". This exposes internal structures and alters the body proportions, and the transformed Sheath Shield can become the tail's flight feathers, resulting in an even cooler design than the original.
