The "ROBOT魂" series of highly articulated finished robot figures, issued by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, today officially announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam DUST," the "Phantom Gundam V2 / V2 Kai Compatible Set," scheduled for release in August 2024.
The EMS TC-02 Phantom Gundam, seized by protagonist Font Baud in "Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam GHOST," is a transformable MS developed by the Jupiter Republic Special Forces "Circus" using data from the previously captured "F99 Record Breaker." It was originally intended for long-distance high-speed travel between Earth and Jupiter in its cruising "Mirage Wasp" form, allowing it to single-handedly infiltrate and attack important Federation facilities. However, the "Minovsky Drive" was only half as complete as that of the concurrently developed V2 Gundam and was extremely unstable. This necessitated the addition of multiple heat vents across its body to dissipate excess Minovsky particles and the installation of several I-Field Generators to forcibly converge and ensure the propulsion system's functionality. Later, in the sequel "Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam DUST," it was repaired into the "Phantom Gundam V2" using new Universal Century 160 technology.
The "ROBOT魂 Phantom Gundam V2 / V2 Kai Compatible Set" is based on the previously released Phantom Gundam, modified with new parts to recreate the Phantom Gundam V2's initial appearance featuring its characteristic left arm, the "Spiral Funnel." The mobile suit retains its flexible articulation and transformation mechanism design, allowing it to transform into its "Mirage Wasp" form. It also comes with a wealth of effect parts to recreate the Phantom Light emitted from its entire body and the Beam Vulcan fired from the Spiral Funnel's nose.
By replacing the armaments with the multi-purpose attack weapon "Peacock" and the improved Spiral Funnel, the "Mystery Shield," it can be configured as the Phantom Gundam V2 Kai. Through interchangeable parts, the head mask can be deployed to recreate its heat dissipation mode. The "Peacock" can transform from a sword mode to a crossbow mode and includes corresponding spike-shaped beam effects. The "Mystery Shield" can also fold its upper and lower armor, attach the same Beam Vulcan effects, and feature the characteristic beam propeller effects when transformed into the Mirage Wasp.
Additionally, the product includes an extension stand that can simultaneously display two mobile suits, allowing the Phantom Gundam V2 Kai to be showcased alongside separately sold figures from the same series, such as the ROBOT魂 Ghost Gundam and the ROBOT魂 Anchor Gundam.
