To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the "CHOGOKIN" series, BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division, TAMASHII NATIONS, will hold a special commemorative exhibition at TAMASHII NATIONS STORE TOKYO from May 10, 2024, to July 1, 2024. During the exhibition, a limited-edition commemorative product from the "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing" series, "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Wing Gundam Zero CHOGOKIN 50th Exclusive," will also be released. This product is currently only available for purchase by CLUB TAMASHII MEMBERS. Please refer to the official website for details.
The "CHOGOKIN" series of toys, born in February 1974, was launched by POPY, the predecessor of TAMASHII NATIONS. Its greatest feature was the use of zinc alloy to create robot characters from Japanese animation, showcasing a mechanical texture and a substantial feel when handled. The manufacturing techniques cultivated by "CHOGOKIN" later led to the development of popular alloy toy products such as "Soul of Chogokin," "DX Chogokin," "METAL BUILD," and "GUNDAM FIX FIGURATION METAL COMPOSITE."
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Wing Gundam Zero CHOGOKIN 50th Exclusive" is based on the regular version released in 2021, with all parts re-colored in electroplated gold, electroplated red, metallic red, and clear red to present a composite texture. The base has also been changed from the original Zero System pattern to one printed with the CHOGOKIN 50th Anniversary LOGO. The armaments and mechanisms are the same as the regular version, including a beam saber, shield, and a Twin Buster Rifle that can reproduce its separated and combined forms. The machine cannons hidden in both shoulders can rotate and deploy as in the original work. Furthermore, the main body can transform into its "NEO BIRD" flight mode without needing to swap parts, and it faithfully reproduces the complex structure of the feet retracting inward.
