BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from the Mobile Suit Gundam series, the "White Base (Theatrical Poster Color Ver.)", as part of its new "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE SB" line, which features battleships from the Mobile Suit Gundam series. This item is scheduled for release in September 2024 and will be exclusively available for purchase on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The Pegasus-class Assault Landing Ship No. 2, "White Base", is the Earth Federation Forces' first space battleship capable of carrying Mobile Suits. It was part of Operation V, alongside Mobile Suits like the Gundam. Its captains included Paolo Cassius and Bright Noa. While not top-tier in performance, the White Base was exceptionally well-balanced and equipped with a "Minovsky Craft System" that allowed it to independently enter and exit the atmosphere. When combined with the high-firepower Mobile Suits on board, it could achieve unexpected results in combat. Due to its two side launch catapults resembling a horse's forelegs, it was also dubbed "Trojan Horse" by the Principality of Zeon.
The "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE SB White Base (Theatrical Poster Color Ver.)" is a modified version of the previously released standard edition, with its colors updated to match the poster artwork from the 1982 film Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space. The entire ship's white armor has been changed to a deeper gray, making the high-density details on the part surfaces even more prominent. Red, yellow, and blue sections have also been altered to darker tones, and the gunmetal paint finish on the thruster nozzle parts has been faithfully reproduced.
Other features remain consistent with the standard edition. With an overall length of approximately 124mm, the model not only boasts high-density details but also allows for the recreation of deployed states for armaments such as the main cannons, machine guns, and Mega Particle Cannons through interchangeable parts. The outer armor of the catapult decks on both sides of the ship's front can also be removed to reveal the internal structure.
