The new "MGSD (MASTER GRADE SD)" series, launched by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division, combines MG series technology with SD Gundam proportions. Today, the detailed product information for the third release from "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz," the "Wing Gundam Zero EW," has been officially announced, with an expected release in November 2024.
The XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero EW is the successor mobile suit to the protagonist Heero Yuy, designed by mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME for the OVA "Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz." Its status is equivalent to the Wing Gundam Zero from the TV anime version. The EW version features significant design and color scheme changes compared to the TV anime, especially the back wings, which were redesigned into more distinctive and organic white feathered wings. These not only greatly enhance mobility but can also envelop and protect the mobile suit, forming an "Atmospheric Re-entry Mode." Its main weapon is also the familiar "Twin Buster Rifle," capable of destroying an entire space colony with a single shot at maximum output.
The "MGSD Wing Gundam Zero EW" integrates MG-level part separation, color separation, and articulation design into a 12 cm tall SD Gundam body. In addition to its high-density detailed sculpting, it utilizes new materials and articulation mechanisms, allowing the mobile suit's appearance to be built step-by-step from the internal movable frame. Realistic metallic gloss injection parts are used to achieve a metallic texture, while areas like the sensors and twin-eye cameras employ a multi-layered structure to recreate the intricate internal mechanisms beneath transparent covers. Even the detailed structure of the ZERO System within the cockpit is faithfully reproduced.
The main body's articulation utilizes a multi-axis movable design, allowing the neck and torso sections to achieve significant forward bending and backward arching. The front skirt armor features over 90 degrees of upward articulation, and areas like the shoulder armor and knees also incorporate interlocking armor designs, enabling more natural poses such as high kneeling.
As for the Wing Gundam Zero EW's flexible back wings, they are connected by a seven-axis movable support, allowing them to swing freely and turn to various angles, recreating the atmospheric re-entry pose. The main wings feature a substantial five-layer structure and an original deployment mechanism. When the wings are deployed, they reveal internal silver frame parts and honeycomb-patterned clear parts that enhance reflection.
In addition to the head's side components being able to deploy to reveal internal mechanisms, recreating the "ZERO System" activation state, the MGSD version also incorporates the "Neo-Bird Mode" designed by KATOKI HAJIME for the Ver.Ka version. This is the first MGSD product to feature a transformation mechanism, allowing it to recreate both "Atmospheric Mode" and "Space Mode" through body transformation and main wing adjustments.
The armament includes the Twin Buster Rifle, shield, and beam saber. Leveraging the Ver.Ka design, the forearm armor can slide open to connect with the Twin Buster Rifle, enhancing stability and recreating the iconic scene of firing at maximum output.
