Japan's renowned toy manufacturer Kaiyodo's "CapsuleQ Museum (カプセルQミュージアム)" gashapon toy series will release a new collection in October 2024, themed after the 2025 World Expo, featuring "MYAKU-MYAKU (ミャクミャク)"! The suggested retail price is 400 Japanese Yen per capsule, with a total of 6 styles to collect.
Designed by Japanese designer Kohei Yamashita, active in graphic and character design, the EXPO 2025 mascot "MYAKU-MYAKU" is a mysterious creature born in a small spring in Kansai, friendly but a bit clumsy, with an unknown true form. The red parts of its body are cells that divide and multiply, while the blue parts are pure water that can transform into various shapes. MYAKU-MYAKU is currently on a journey to find its ideal self, having temporarily taken on a humanoid form. MYAKU-MYAKU not only echoes Osaka's prominent characteristic as a city of water but also showcases a rich variety of adorable appearances due to its lack of a fixed form.
This time, the MYAKU-MYAKU gashapon toys, planned and produced by Kaiyodo with prototype sculpting by Honami Mizuta, come in three poses most familiar to the public: standing (立ち姿), sitting (おすわり), and lying down (寝ころび). There are also color-inverted versions with the same poses. While detailed dimensions haven't been announced, the official website mentions they are palm-sized. Collecting a complete set to display side-by-side would undoubtedly be fantastic! This somewhat bizarre yet cute style is truly captivating; the editor even wants to collect another set to put into a time capsule and retrieve it fifty years later to appreciate its avant-garde design!
