Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY's high-end toy brand T-SPARK has announced the latest product from its assembly model "REALIZE MODEL" series, the "RMZ-005 Heavy Armor Moruga Guylos Color," scheduled for release in late April 2025.
The "REALIZE MODEL" is a 1/100 scale articulated assembly model series, featuring "super articulation," "easy assembly," and "collectibility." The developers have considered players' preferences from every angle, from part count and sense of scale to design and structure, materializing various ideal conditions one by one.
The Heavy Armor Moruga, now being commercialized, is an insect-type Zoid widely produced and utilized by both the Zenebas Empire and Guylos Empire in the original "ZOIDS" world. Its silkworm-like design features a low chassis and heavy armor, with the head armor, which houses the cockpit, being twice as thick as other parts. This not only enhances pilot survivability but also allows it to break through enemy lines on the surface, tunnel underground, and launch assaults against enemy forces.
The "RMZ-005 Heavy Armor Moruga Guylos Color" utilizes modern technology to reconstruct its segmented, caterpillar-like body and the distinctive rolling wheel structure on its abdomen. The missiles concealed in its tail now feature a newly designed hatch opening and closing mechanism for a more realistic mechanical feel. The level of detail has been significantly enhanced compared to the motorized versions sold during the Showa and Heisei eras.
Its multi-segmented body incorporates pull-out joints, allowing it to twist in multiple directions like a real caterpillar, bending significantly into a U-shape both front-to-back and side-to-side. The large wheels on both sides of the abdomen are equipped with frames that can rotate left and right, and the tire bases use ball-jointed parts, enabling more subtle wheel movements.
Furthermore, the 20mm Gatling gun on the head and the cockpit hatch both feature deployment mechanisms. The twin surface-to-air missiles concealed in the abdomen have a more realistic deployment mechanism, and their launcher bases can rotate and adjust elevation. A display stand connection port is hidden beneath the wheels, allowing it to be posed with its head significantly raised when combined with a separately sold display stand.
