Japan's official Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, has announced the latest limited Gunpla product from "Mobile Suit Gundam," the "MG 1/100 RX-78-3 G-3 Gundam Ver.3.0," scheduled to go on sale starting September 14, 2024.

In the novelization of "Mobile Suit Gundam," the RX-78-3 G-3 Gundam is the third unit in the RX-78 Gundam series. After protagonist Amuro Ray's fierce battle with Elmeth, the RX-78-2 Gundam Unit 2 was half-destroyed. Subsequently, he transferred to the G-3 Gundam and participated in the Battle of A Baoa Qu until his death. The exterior of this unit is essentially the same as Unit 2, but the mobile suit's color scheme features a gray-white coating. Additionally, magnetic coating was applied to the frame's drive sections to reduce friction between parts and enhance movement speed.

Released in August 2013, the "MG 1/100 Gundam Ver.3.0" inherited the characteristics of the RG version in its overall styling and design. The mobile suit's inner frame not only features intricate internal structures but is also made from paintable materials. It also incorporates the ingenious "Movable Armor System," allowing the frame to extensively link with the armor, thereby increasing the range of motion for each joint and enabling more natural poses. Furthermore, it includes features such as the Core Fighter transforming and storing in the abdomen, fully articulated "Emotion Manipulator SP" hands, and "Realistic Decals" to enhance detailed texture, essentially making it an enlarged RG First Gundam.

The "MG 1/100 RX-78-3 G-3 Gundam Ver.3.0" is based on modifications to the previously released regular version. Not only does the model box art feature new illustrations, but all parts have also been replaced with new molding colors to reproduce the characteristic gray and blue tones of the G-3 Gundam, and it comes with dedicated water-slide decals printed with new unit markings.
