BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the 1/100 scale Gundam plastic model 'MG (Master Grade)' series, known for its excellent part separation, internal frame structure, and rich articulation mechanisms. The 'MG 1/100 Narrative Gundam B-Packs Ver.Ka', from 《Mobile Suit Gundam NT》, is scheduled for release in November 2024. This product will be exclusively sold at BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The protagonist mobile suit of 《Mobile Suit Gundam NT》, the RX-9 Narrative Gundam, is set as an AE Company-developed psycoframe experimental unit based on the 'RX-93 ν Gundam'. Its external appearance and part composition are largely similar to the ν Gundam. As its primary purpose was data acquisition, many areas were not equipped with armor, and its only armament was the head-mounted vulcan cannons. Years later, this unit was deployed by Luio & Co. in the 'Phoenix Hunt' operation. It can be re-equipped with the 'B-Packs' backpack, which features two wired remote attack systems. Its hands are equipped with small shields containing missiles and beam sabers, while the backpack carries two wire-guided cannons. Upon activating 'NT-D', these can directly function as funnels.
The 'MG 1/100 Narrative Gundam B-Packs Ver.Ka' utilizes the main body from the previously released Narrative Gundam. Designed by renowned mechanical designer KATOKI HAJIME, it blends the design aesthetics of the RX-93 ν Gundam and RX-0 Unicorn Gundam. Precise part separation and color molding techniques recreate every detail, and the entire body features an NT-D mode armor expansion gimmick designed for use with the C-Packs. The mobile suit also boasts intricate articulation designs, such as a hip joint locking mechanism and knee interlocking mechanism, providing an excellent range of motion. The torso features a core block system, absent in the HG version, allowing the main wings to deploy and transform into a Core Fighter.
This product includes new box art, the 'B-Packs', and dedicated water-slide decals. The B-Packs feature small shields with built-in missiles, beam sabers, and a backpack equipped with two wire-guided cannons. The two beam saber hilts can be stored in the rear skirt armor, and the small shields on both forearms can be combined to form a large shield using connector parts.
The backpack features multiple movable axes to minimize articulation interference and recreate firing poses. The two wire-guided cannons can transform into their deployed state without part replacement and can be displayed in their firing state with the included cable parts and display stand. The circular parts on both sides of the backpack also function as reels, allowing the cable parts to be wound and stored. Additionally, connector parts for the 'C-Packs' backpack are included, enabling the combination of both B and C pack parts to form an original model-kit equipment configuration.
Furthermore, a set of clear molded 'psycoframe' parts is included as an accessory, identical to those provided with the 'C-Packs'. These can be used with 'MG 1/100 Narrative Gundam Ver.Ka' and 'MG 1/100 Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka' series kits, allowing for custom painting to recreate the standard NT-D activation state or the green-glowing awakened state.
For those who have already acquired the previously released 'MG 1/100 Narrative Gundam C-Packs Ver.Ka', an expansion parts set containing only the B-Packs and water-slide decals (excluding the clear molded 'psycoframe' parts) is also being released simultaneously, allowing for equipment changes with the main body.
