The "Creature Encyclopedia" (いきもの大図鑑) series, released by Bandai Toy Company's GASHAPON capsule toy division and known for its realistic reproduction of natural creatures, is now offering the latest "Creature Encyclopedia Mini Collection Turtle 01" on GASHAPON ONLINE! Scheduled to ship in November 2024, the suggested retail price is 500 Japanese Yen per capsule, with a total of 5 types to collect.
This first installment of the Creature Encyclopedia Mini Collection features highly popular turtles, including the "Alligator Snapping Turtle" with its monster-like shell and fierce head, the "Mata Mata" (also known as the "Leaf Turtle") a large aquatic turtle with a long, slender neck, the "Japanese Pond Turtle" which is endemic to Japan, and the "Red-eared Slider" (often kept as a pet and called a "green turtle" when young). In addition to these four turtles, there is also an even rarer golden version of the Alligator Snapping Turtle!
The figures range approximately from 5 to 12 cm in size. The sculpting and coloring are handled by Japanese animal sculptor "Moriya," who has infused these miniature, palm-sized figures with astonishing detail and a vibrant sense of life! The rock bases also feature excellent texture depiction. I really want an Alligator Snapping Turtle! Its strong limbs, highly aggressive shell, and sharp, beak-like mouth are incredibly cool. The Red-eared Slider hatchling, with its vivid green color and dynamic swimming pose, is also excellent. And the Mata Mata, slowly raising its head to breathe, is a truly unique presence. If you love turtle creature designs, you definitely need to collect these.
