KOTOBUKIYA, the Japanese model manufacturer, today announced the latest product in its original plastic model kit series, '無限邂逅 Megalo Maria', the 'Peridot', slated for release in January 2025.
The new series, '無限邂逅 Megalo Maria', is Kotobukiya's first product with the vast majority of its parts manufactured domestically in Japan. Unlike previous plastic model kits featuring bishoujo-style human or mecha girl designs, this series adopts the new 'Marionette Style' body, which boasts a humanoid puppet appearance and prioritizes 'articulation' and 'expressiveness'. Its unique composite worldview is presented as a 'play-within-a-play', connecting various plastic model kit series released by Kotobukiya, allowing for infinite possibilities in play.
The new character, 'Peridot', is a modification based on the second release, 'RUBY EYE'. It utilizes molding colors such as black, lime green, bubblegum pink, and clear transparent to express a darkened nurse aesthetic, allowing for free selection between two styles: 'black + green' or 'black + pink'.
Aside from the colors, the specifications are essentially the same as RUBY EYE. With a height of approximately 16 cm, it features around 50 points of articulation, including highly flexible shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee joint designs that allow the figure to perform incredibly fluid, lifelike movements. Furthermore, various universal 3mm hardpoints are located throughout the body, enabling interchangeability with parts from other Kotobukiya plastic model kits. The head comes with two interchangeable styles: a right eye patch and both eyes open. The facial expressions and bangs parts are also interchangeable with the 'Sousai Shojo Teien' series, greatly expanding playability.
In addition to enhancing these basic joint articulation designs, the 'Marionette Style' body also introduces many new elements not found in previous products. These include hip armor that can be chosen as either left and right independent pieces for enhanced articulation or a single piece for aesthetic emphasis, and wrist joints that utilize a triple-joint structure capable of bending 180 degrees to replicate the deployment of internal weapon connection points.
The nurse-style armor is also equipped via 3mm hardpoints. The skirt armor features an articulation mechanism to reduce hindrance to leg movement. Armaments include twin swords modeled after scalpels, two syringe-shaped pistols, a blood bag-shaped backpack, and four life capsules.
