Twitter User Pays 'Furusato Nozei' to Akihabara, Chiyoda Ward, Receives 20kg of Erotic Games as Return Gift! Netizens Amused: 'Full of Nostalgia, So Heartwarming!'

We previously reported on news regarding Japan's "Furusato Nozei" (Hometown Tax) system. Typically, hometowns send gifts as a token of appreciation, mostly local specialties or unique products. However, recently, more and more local governments are choosing to collaborate with anime IPs, allowing taxpayers to receive related limited-edition merchandise, which has led to stable growth in tax revenue.

Recently, a Japanese Twitter user shared that after donating their Furusato Nozei to Akihabara, Chiyoda Ward, they surprisingly received an entire box of "erotic games" weighing 20 kilograms. This astonishing sight left many speechless, and the post garnered significant attention after being shared on X.

While the exact reason is unknown, netizens who experienced the golden age of Galgames would likely recognize that these are almost all classic masterpieces, such as 《Dōkyūsei 2》, 《ToHeart》, and more. This is essentially a time capsule full of memories. Even the Twitter user couldn't help but burst out laughing upon receiving them, wondering why the Furusato Nozei return gift would be these "bone-ash" (vintage) games, lol.

Some netizens jokingly commented, "The moment you open these games, it's like you've returned to the day they were first released," finding it incredibly heartwarming and touching. Of course, others were curious if these games could still be played on modern computers, truly bringing back memories from over 20 years ago...

After all, these items aren't necessarily easy to collect even if one seriously tried. It's unexpected that the government would offer such items as a Furusato Nozei return gift. No wonder some netizens felt a pang of jealousy, wondering if Akihabara's Furusato Nozei is ready to receive even more contributions ( ? )

We also checked the requirements for Chiyoda Ward's Furusato Nozei and it seems there are no specific stipulations on what kind of items are required. Apparently, anything that reflects the local characteristics or products of the area is acceptable. After all, it's Akihabara... so these games seem... reasonable, right? XD.

It's safe to say that the introduction of Japan's Furusato Nozei has indeed led to many amusing return gifts. Of course, numerous agencies and companies have invested in making these gifts even more diverse. But receiving an entire box of such games, one truly doesn't know whether to feel happy or... just burst out laughing, lol.
