GOOD SMILE COMPANY of Japan has announced the latest product from its popular "Nendoroid" series, which boasts over a thousand different items, "Nendoroid Hojo Tokiyuki" from The Elusive Prince. It is priced at 6,800 JPY and is scheduled for release in April 2025.
The Elusive Prince is based on the history between Japan's Kamakura and Muromachi periods in 1333, depicting the story of Hojo Tokiyuki, the legitimate heir of the Hojo clan (Tokuso branch), after encountering rebellion and the annihilation of his family by Ashikaga Takauji. Although Tokiyuki was the successor to the family head, he was unwilling to seriously practice martial arts. Instead, by avoiding training, he displayed a talent for hiding and escaping, even surviving the chaos of war. With the assistance of Suwa Yorishige, the leader of Shinano, he concealed his identity and organized a band of retainers called the "Runaway Boys" (Tōshō-tō), fighting against Ashikaga Takauji's forces while constantly on the run, aiming to restore the Hojo clan.
The "Nendoroid Hojo Tokiyuki" action figure stands approximately 10 cm tall. Interpreted in a cute, chibi style, it charmingly captures Tokiyuki's flowing long ponytail and distinctive priestly attire. It comes with interchangeable face plates: a "smiling face," a "serious face" for combat, and a blushing "excited face." Combined with interchangeable hand parts, hair parts, a "sword," and a dedicated stand, you can recreate various dynamic poses of the elusive prince from the series! It's truly a pity that the classic "What if you kill me?" expression was not included!
