Japanese model manufacturer Megahouse, known for its "GGG (Gundam Girls Generation)" character figure series which brings female characters from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series to life with exquisite sculpting, today officially announced its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket", "Christina Mackenzie -INTO THE SKY-", scheduled for release in March 2025.
Christina Mackenzie, who appears in "War in the Pocket", is the gentle older sister and childhood friend living next door to the protagonist, Al. In reality, she is a Federation soldier who graduated from military academy with top honors and serves as the pilot of the new mobile suit "Gundam NT-1". After encountering Bernie, a Zeon soldier who infiltrated the colony, they developed feelings for each other without knowing their respective backgrounds. However, at the end of the story, they tragically fought each other, unaware of each other's identities, and she ultimately ended Bernie's life with her own hands.
The "GGG Christina Mackenzie -INTO THE SKY-" figure brings to life the cover illustration from Haruhiko Mikimoto's Gundam art book "INTO THE SKY" – Mikimoto himself served as the anime's character designer – and he thoroughly supervised the sculpting. The figure captures Christina in a pose of stretching her shoulders and partially removing her pilot suit. Her hair utilizes clear parts and gradient painting to recreate its luster and light texture, while the clothing recreates the watercolor-style shading from the original illustration. The facial features, which are the soul of the figure, are rendered with delicate paintwork and printing, recreating the transparent, fresh, and naturally beautiful countenance drawn by Haruhiko Mikimoto.
