Following the Oscar-winning success of "Oppenheimer" last year, Universal Pictures is reportedly looking to reunite with first-time Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr. for a new project, in addition to his potential reunion with Christopher Nolan on a separate film.
According to Deadline, Universal has acquired the adaptation rights to Julianna Baggott's short story "The Hider," with Robert Downey Jr. eyed for the starring role. The film is reportedly set to be penned by screenwriting duo Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, known for their work on "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and the upcoming "Transformers ONE."

Plot details for the film are currently under wraps, as the project remains in the early stages of development. Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey will produce alongside Amanda Burrell via their production banner Team Downey. Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold are also set to produce on behalf of Safehouse Pictures. Julianna Baggott will serve as an executive producer, with Finneas Scott as co-producer. Matt Reilly, Universal Pictures' Executive Vice President of Production, will oversee the project for the studio.
Beyond his Oscar recognition, Downey Jr. recently garnered an Emmy nomination for his role in the Park Chan-wook-produced HBO limited series "The Sympathizer."
