The robot model kit 'HG (High Grade)' series, launched by the HOBBY Division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from the anime "Heavy Metal L-Gaim", the "HG 1/144 L-Gaim [Special Coating]", scheduled for release in January 2025. This product will be sold exclusively on Bandai's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The L-Gaim is the Heavy Metal piloted by the protagonist, Daba Myroad. Daba's true identity is Kamen Myroad, the sole survivor of the Yaman Dynasty, which was destroyed by the Poseidal military. To seize an opportunity to defeat the tyrannical dictator Oldna Poseidal and restore the Yaman clan, Daba's adoptive father modified and disguised the Yaman Dynasty's A-class Heavy Metal, Galum 21, into the pure white armored L-Gaim. Equipped with powerful armaments such as sabers and power launchers, it became a formidable main force after Daba joined the rebel army.
The "HG 1/144 L-Gaim [Special Coating]" is a modified version based on the regular release from 2021. It similarly features modern-standard color separation and part division, flexible articulation, and comes with a wealth of weapon accessories to fully recreate the arm power launcher, power launcher, energy tubes for the power launcher, saber, shield, and the ultimate weapon used in the final episode, the "Buster Launcher", allowing for various cool battle scenes.
The difference from the regular version is that most of the white armor parts on the entire model have been replaced with white plated parts, while the gray frame, gold joints, and other areas utilize metallic molding colors, presenting a luxurious and substantial metallic texture. Coupled with the pre-designed hidden gates, this significantly preserves the plated color on the parts' surfaces and reduces the difficulty of part processing.
