Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division is set to release its latest product, the "HG 1/144 Murasame Kai", from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" on October 19, 2024. Official new information, including product box art design and actual sample images, has been released just before its launch.
The STTS/F-400 Murasame Kai is the next-generation main mobile suit of the Orb military, improved from the "MVF-M11C Murasame". Several units were also delivered to the Archangel for pilots like Mu La Flaga to serve as ship-borne combat power. This unit largely retains the Murasame's frame and weaponry but features significantly improved exterior styling and transformation mechanisms. When transforming into MA mode, the original forward-swept wing design has been changed to a swept-back wing, and it similarly boasts excellent aerial combat capabilities.
The newly revealed actual sample of the "HG 1/144 Murasame Kai" is largely consistent with previous in-development CG images. The overall design still adopts an original model kit style, rather than the mechanical design used in the anime. Many areas, such as the distinctive miniaturized shoulder armor, the shape of the front skirt armor, and the slender legs, have been significantly modified, giving it a silhouette closer to the pre-modification "MVF-M11C Murasame".
The kit is produced using Bandai's latest color separation and part division technology, utilizing molded part colors to reproduce the mobile suit's colors as accurately as possible. The red antenna on the head, the chin, and the orange parts on the forehead are all reproduced with molded colors. It also features the "SEED Action System," which allows for classic poses from the Gundam SEED series. With flexible joint designs such as the double joints in the forearms and independently movable hip joints for the legs, you can recreate dynamic combat poses from the show.
Weapon accessories include a beam saber, beam rifle, and shield. By replacing parts, the MA (Mobile Armor) form, which resembles a fighter jet, can be reproduced. This method offers a more robust structure compared to direct transformation. Several missile parts, the beam rifle, and other armaments can be suspended under the main wings, showcasing a cool, fully armed appearance.
