High-end Japanese model maker CCP's "Phantom Ultimate Sculpting" GK model series has announced its latest product, "Meteorite Monster Garamon Karadama DX Version Painted Edition," a collaboration with Japanese sculptor Atsushi Asai's Asai Zokei. The suggested retail price is 74,800 JPY, with an estimated release in December 2024.
The "幻之究極造形 CCPJAPAN×浅井造型 隕石怪獸嘎拉蒙 卡拉達瑪DX版 彩色版" (Phantom Ultimate Sculpting CCPJAPAN×Asai Zokei Meteorite Monster Garamon Karadama DX Version Painted Edition) is based on the Garamon GK kit released by Asai Zokei in 2020. Five years later, CCP JAPAN is commercializing it as a pre-painted finished product! Standing approximately 30 cm tall, it thoroughly reproduces the suit details of Garamon as seen in Tsuburaya Productions' tokusatsu series "Ultra Q." Made from resin cast (PU, partially PS) material, it fully captures the complex, thorny, protruding skin. The upper body is crafted as a single piece, allowing for a seamless and complete appearance!
The coloring is handled by Sarutajira (さるタジラ), a monster model colorist from CCP JAPAN studio. Under the joint supervision of Asai Zokei and Tsuburaya Productions, it recreates the aged, pale atmosphere from the tokusatsu series. Rich color overlays, such as deep reddish-brown and bright orange highlights, are used to reproduce the bright variations in texture and shadow. Through repeated application of highlights, shadows, and dry brushing on the complex uneven surface, a meticulously painted, deep color tone is achieved, perfectly replicating the hues of the suit prop replica.
Furthermore, the product's greatest feature is the interchangeable Karadama base. By detaching Garamon's legs and tail, it can be assembled onto the Karadama base, which has powerful built-in magnets, allowing for easy and secure display in different poses!
