Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the "METAL ROBOT Damashii" series, which combines metallic paint finishes and die-cast frames, today officially announced the latest product from the 10th-anniversary anime "Gundam Reconguista in G," the "G-Self (Perfect Pack)," scheduled for release in May 2025.
The G-Self equipped with the Perfect Pack is an enhanced form that appears in the later stages of the story. This specialized backpack, developed by the Venus Globe, integrates the functions of six previous packs: atmospheric, space, reflector, trick, high torque, and assault, allowing for real-time switching of functions according to combat situations. It is also equipped with various powerful armaments such as photon torpedoes, all-range beams, and photon detectors. Among these, the photon torpedoes can convert the energy generated after annihilating targets back to the main unit, making it a formidable strategic weapon when considering no distinction between friend and foe.
The "METAL ROBOT Damashii G-Self (Perfect Pack)" is crafted with precise sculpting and color application, recreating the divine animation quality reminiscent of the re-drawn theatrical version. Notably, the head part faithfully reproduces the large-eye proportions characteristic of the movie version, with internal details for the twin cameras resembling pupils. The detail density of the entire suit's armor has also fully evolved compared to the 2015 ROBOT Damashii version, giving it a sharper, more intricately lined and cool appearance. It not only utilizes matte color coatings with a substantial feel but also features markings printed on various parts of the body.
For the articulated joints, die-cast frames are used in areas such as the shoulders, hips, and limbs, providing both flexible articulation and a satisfying weight when handled. This allows for the recreation of signature poses such as the high kneeling pose upon landing on Earth, raising both hands when using the photon detector, and the "First Move." The Perfect Pack features multi-axis articulation and transformation mechanisms, capable of recreating the aircraft's silhouette during flight, or transforming to reproduce attack modes such as "Reflector Mode" and "Assault Mode."
Armament accessories include a "Beam Rifle," "Beam Saber," and a "Photon Armor Shield" with effect parts to recreate the deployment of the photon shield. The articulated display stand uses the common specifications for recent "METAL ROBOT Damashii" products, allowing for display at various angles and directions. The base part also features an exclusive gold-stamped pattern, using silhouettes of numerous characters from the show and cloud patterns to recreate the impressive scene from the ending theme song "G no Senkou."
